There was a weight discrepancy with Ben's birth weight, and Sam's length & possibly his weight. We found this out while we were still in the hospital when the day after birth Ben weighed 4lbs14oz- almost a whole pound smaller than his birth weight! The doctors and we agreed that the birth stats didn't seem to make sense, at least comparing the boys' sizes to each other, and it was obvious that Ben did not lose a pound, so after some investigating by the lactation consultant, we discovered that the hospital was using new scales in the operating room, and many nurses were not using them correctly. Apparently we were not the only family that weekend having this issue. Unfortunately, we are unsure of their official birth stats, so we are just using the ones they gave us. Needless to say, they were very small, actually they were TINY. Ben was still 4.14 when we brought him home, and Sam was 5.3. Initially, they were not great feeders, but as they matured they got better and better. Once they started gaining, they gained about an ounce a day! Even thought they are still small, they have grown and changed so much.
Love the photos! J., Clare and Max were narrating each photo and had the most fun with the ones that looked like they were fighting or little monkeys grooming each other. So precious!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love all these pictures. Especially the ones with their little feet intertwined and the tops of their heads. AMAZING!!! That is crazy about the birth weight mix-ups. Can't imagine such tiny babies. Glad they are eating well now and gaining weight. Can't wait to watch these boys grow up in pictures.
